Nuuk International Airport opens to boost tourism in Greenland

Nuuk International Airport will open on November 28, allowing larger planes to land in Greenland's capital for the first time. This development is expected to boost tourism, with United Airlines launching seasonal flights from Newark starting in June. Previously, travelers could only reach Greenland by flying into smaller airports. The new airport can handle 800 passengers per hour and will serve as a hub for Air Greenland, connecting Nuuk to Copenhagen and Reykjavik. Two additional airports are planned to open by the end of 2026, further improving access to Greenland. Despite these advancements, travel within the country will still rely on flights or boats due to limited road infrastructure.
