NRL changes rules so Jai Arrow can mark 100th game after MND diagnosis

South Sydney Rabbitohs forward Jai Arrow, diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) in May, made his 100th appearance for the club on Friday, receiving a special NRL dispensation to play the opening moments of two final matches before retiring. Arrow, 31, was subbed off after the kickoff in the 50-20 win over the Sydney Roosters, having been escorted onto the field by teammate Cam Murray to a standing ovation from 45,000 fans. He said he has accepted his diagnosis and will "fight till the death," while praising the NRL and club for their support. The Queensland State of Origin representative, who announced his immediate retirement in May, used the occasion to raise awareness for MND, a condition with no cure and an average life expectancy of two to three years. He cited the work of Kevin Sinfield, who has raised millions for research, as an inspiration.
