NRIs face 6 hurdles submitting Jeevan Pramaan life certificate

The Digital Life Certificate (DLC) system, known as Jeevan Pramaan Patra, is causing significant difficulties for Non-Resident Indian (NRI) pensioners who must submit it annually online, with issues ranging from failed Aadhaar authentication to a lack of Indian mobile numbers for receiving OTPs. According to a letter from the Bharat Pensioner Samaj (BPS) to the central government, six key problems plague overseas pensioners. These include reliance on family members for submission, technical failures in the biometric authentication process, and the inability to complete verification due to the absence of a valid Indian phone number for the one-time password. The BPS, which claims to represent 10 lakh central government pensioners, highlighted these challenges to push for a more accessible solution. The issues underscore the broader struggle for NRIs to comply with mandatory yearly verification requirements while living abroad, often forcing them to seek help from relatives in India.
