Norwegian municipalities face increasing natural damage due to climate change

nrk.no (Swedish)

Three out of four Norwegian municipalities experienced natural damage in the last two years. This indicates that climate change impacts are increasing. Recent data from the Directorate for Civil Protection shows 75% of municipalities were affected by severe natural hazards. Extreme weather event "Amy" alone caused half of the 3 billion kroner in damages last year. While municipalities are better prepared than a decade ago, natural hazards now occur year-round. Norway spends significantly more on repairing damage than on prevention.
