Norway's August home prices jump 2.1%, strongest since 2009

Norwegian housing prices rose 2.1 percent in August, the strongest increase for that month since 2009, according to new statistics from Eiendom Norge. Seasonally adjusted, prices increased 0.8 percent. Prices have risen 4.9 percent so far in 2026, with the average home costing 5,039,618 kroner. However, Oslo has seen only 0.3 percent growth this year, and chief economist Kyrre Knudsen notes the 12-month increase of 2.6 percent is below inflation and wage growth. A high number of homes for sale may dampen future price growth, while agents report buyers are more cautious and price-conscious. The outlook for a September interest rate decision from Norges Bank remains evenly split.
