North Wildwood reaches tentative deal with New Jersey to improve beach conditions
North Wildwood, a New Jersey resort town, has reached a tentative agreement with the state to resolve a long-standing dispute over beach conditions. The deal, pending council approval, aims to end litigation and focus on beach widening efforts. The agreement includes dropping a $12 million fine against North Wildwood for unauthorized repairs and a lawsuit seeking reimbursement for $30 million spent on emergency sand trucking. North Wildwood will also contribute $1 million to future federal beach replenishment costs. This resolution comes as North Wildwood has not yet received a full beach replenishment project from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, partly due to easement issues. The state previously conducted interim replenishment work last summer to address severe erosion.
