North Vancouver fire displaces seniors, damages renovated building

A fire at a North Vancouver seniors' complex displaced 36 residents, requiring a large response from North Shore fire crews. The fire at Silverlynn Apartments, reported Saturday morning, caused heavy smoke and flames, trapping residents. Firefighters rescued about ten people before the blaze intensified, partially destroying the building, which was under renovation after a previous fatal fire. Five people received medical treatment, with two hospitalized and later released. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, but local businesses provided support, and temporary housing was arranged for those displaced.
