North Central Railway freight loading jumps 11% in August

North Central Railway reported an 11% increase in freight loading in August, with cumulative loading for the first five months of fiscal year 2026-27 rising 8.2% compared to the same period last year. The Prayagraj Division was the strongest performer, posting a 28.7% increase in freight loading from April to August and exceeding its target by 2.2%. Originating freight revenue reached Rs. 1,003.74 crore, a 5.7% growth over the Rs. 949.53 crore earned in the corresponding period of the previous year. The zone loaded 1.771 million tonnes in August, up from 1.596 million tonnes last year, and 9.015 million tonnes over the five-month period. The Jhansi Division grew 5% to 4.063 million tonnes, while the Agra Division contributed 1.282 million tonnes.
