Noida's Sector 19 faces six-hour power cut after transformer failure

Residents of Sector 19 in Noida lost power for over six hours on Monday after a transformer breakdown, with intermittent disruptions continuing into Tuesday, leaving people struggling in heat and humidity. The power department initiated a shutdown from midnight to 1 p.m. for repairs, but it extended by an hour, and Block C experienced another breakdown. A junior engineer confirmed a transformer replacement was needed, and power was finally restored by 6.15 p.m., though cuts persisted after a new transformer was installed. RWA leaders criticized repeated failures, noting the transformer had been repaired several times in the past month. They also highlighted that over Rs 250 crore allocated by the UP government for infrastructure improvements over three years has yielded little progress, with other sectors reporting similar issues.
