Noida issues notice to cold storage unit after seizure of banned cow meat
Noida's food department has issued a notice to a cold storage unit after seizing 185 tonnes of cow meat valued at Rs 4 crore from a truck traveling from West Bengal. The cold storage unit, owned by Puran Joshi, lacked permission to store banned meat. Joshi has been given one week to explain why his license should not be revoked. If his response is unsatisfactory, the license will be canceled. The truck was stopped on November 9, leading to an investigation and the arrest of seven individuals. Samples from both the truck and the cold storage unit tested positive for banned meat. A total of 153 tonnes were found in the storage unit, while 32 tonnes were taken from the truck.
