NMC mandates annual self-declaration reports for PG medical institutions in India

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has introduced a new requirement for all postgraduate medical institutions in India to submit an Annual Self-Declaration Report. This report, part of the 2023 guidelines, aims to enhance accountability and educational standards. The self-declaration will include details about faculty qualifications, infrastructure, and compliance with curriculum guidelines. Institutions must submit the report by October 31, 2024, along with a fee of Rs 50,000 plus GST for each PG course. While the new mandate may create administrative challenges for some colleges, it is expected to improve the quality of medical education. This will ultimately benefit students and the healthcare system by producing better-trained medical professionals.
