Nitama, the beloved cat stationmaster of Kishi Station, has passed away at the age of 15. Her death marks the end of an era for the popular tourist attraction. Nitama, adopted as a kitten by Okayama Electric Tramway, served as stationmaster since 2015, greeting passengers. Her predecessor, Tama, revitalized the station, leading to a significant increase in passengers. A company funeral is scheduled for December 13. Three potential successors, Sun-tama-tama, Yontama, and Gotama, are being considered for the role.
