Nintendo doubles operating profit on US tariff refunds as sales dip

Nintendo's operating profit more than doubled to ¥142.5 billion ($902 million) in April-June, despite lower net sales, driven by US tariff refunds. Net sales declined 9.5% to ¥517.8 billion ($3.28 billion). US tariff refunds totaled about $300 million, as Nintendo bore the tariffs instead of raising prices. Switch 2 console sales dropped 34.4%, though game sales increased. Nintendo attributed Switch 2 price rises to component costs, not tariffs. Digital sales climbed 90% to ¥132.7 billion, and IP revenue rose 107% partly thanks to the Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
