Nimbus variant spreads; causes "razor blade throat" in UK

A new COVID-19 variant, dubbed Nimbus, is spreading and is now the dominant strain in the UK, causing a painful "razor blade throat" symptom. The Nimbus variant, a descendant of Omicron, has led to rising cases in several countries, including the United States where it is the second most common variant. The WHO considers its global health risk low. While the Philippines is monitoring the Nimbus variant, no local cases have been reported as of mid-June. The DOH urges continued health precautions.
