"Nightline" celebrates 45th anniversary with logo update
ABC's "Nightline" is celebrating its 45th anniversary this month. The show will unveil an updated version of its classic logo, returning to the all-caps style used from 1997 to 2017. This change comes after using an all-lowercase logo since 2017. ABC News says the new logo blends elements from the original design with a modern twist. On March 24, at 12:35 a.m. ET, a special episode will air featuring interviews with original anchor Ted Koppel and former anchors like Terry Moran and Cynthia McFadden. Current anchors Juju Chang and Byron Pitts will host the episode, which will include archived footage and insights into the show’s impact on journalism. ABC News will celebrate "Nightline" with a day-long tribute across its platforms. Chang and Pitts will appear on multiple shows, including "Good Morning America" and "The View." Stories about the show's history will be featured on programs like "World News Tonight" and ABC News Digital. "Nightline" originally began in November 1979, focusing on the Iran hostage crisis. The March 24 anniversary marks when it transitioned to a broader range of topics. It remains known for its in-depth journalism. Eman Varoqua, the executive producer, emphasized the show's dedication to serious reporting. He noted the team's commitment to storytelling while staying true to the show's legacy as it reaches new audiences.
