NHS places vulnerable adults in private hospital with abuse allegations
The NHS has sent vulnerable adult patients to Joyce Parker Hospital, which recently reopened as an adult service after closing its children's service due to abuse allegations. The hospital was previously criticized for failing to protect child patients. Cygnet Health Care, which operates the hospital, faced a Care Quality Commission warning about staff physically abusing patients. Despite this, local NHS commissioners have already placed patients there, raising concerns about the "recycling" of services. This is not the first time Joyce Parker Hospital has reopened after criticism. In 2020, it transitioned from a women's eating disorder unit to a children's mental health facility. The Department of Health and Social Care did not comment on the new admissions.
