NHS offers new cancer vaccine to 1,200 monthly
A new cancer vaccine, nivolumab, is now available on the NHS, offering treatment for 15 cancer types with a single injection. The vaccine will be administered to approximately 1,200 patients monthly, treating cancers like skin, bladder, and oesophageal cancer. England is the first European country to offer this treatment, which takes 15 minutes instead of an hour-long IV drip. The new jab, a monoclonal antibody, blocks cancer cells from deactivating T-cells, allowing the immune system to fight the disease. The NHS anticipates saving 1,000 hours of treatment time monthly.
