New Zealand offers NZD60,000 scholarships at IIT Delhi
New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon visited IIT Delhi to strengthen educational ties with India. He announced a new scholarship program worth NZD60,000 under the New Zealand Excellence Awards for 2025. The event also featured the launch of a Virtual Internship Programme. This program will allow 30 students from IIT Delhi to intern remotely with New Zealand companies. The collaboration aims to enhance academic and cultural exchanges between the two countries. During his speech, Luxon emphasized the importance of education and skills for students in today's connected world. He stated that New Zealand is dedicated to building deeper connections with India through these initiatives. Professor Rangan Banerjee, director of IIT Delhi, spoke about the significance of the partnership. He mentioned that the New Zealand Centre at IIT Delhi promotes joint research and student exchanges. Both universities are focusing on critical issues like sustainability and disaster resilience. The event was well-attended by guests from IIT Delhi and New Zealand, showcasing the strong academic bonds between the two nations. As part of this collaboration, more agreements will be signed in the future to reinforce joint research and student mobility.
