New York City schools and government offices close for Election Day while libraries remain open

On Election Day, November 5, New York City schools will be closed, along with city government offices and state courts. Classes will resume on November 6. All branches of the New York City Public Library will remain open. Alternate Side Parking rules will be suspended, but other parking regulations will still apply. There will be no trash, recycling, or compost pickup on Election Day. Residents should place their items out for collection on the evening of November 6.
