New urine test detects aggressive prostate cancer at home with high accuracy
A new urine test, MyProstateScore 2.0 (MPS2), can now detect aggressive prostate cancer with 94% accuracy from home, eliminating the need for hospital visits. This test identifies high-risk cases better than traditional PSA tests, reducing unnecessary biopsies. Previously, the MyProstateScore test required a rectal exam for sample collection. The new study shows it is effective without this step, allowing men to collect samples comfortably at home. This change makes early detection more accessible. The test analyzes 18 genes linked to aggressive prostate cancer. Researchers aim to explore its ability to identify low-risk cancers in the future, potentially reducing overdiagnosis and overtreatment.
