New tram route 56 connects St. Petersburg's Yugo-Zapadnaya metro station starting December 27

A new tram route, No. 56, is being introduced in St. Petersburg starting December 27, connecting to the newly opened "Yugo-Zapadnaya" metro station. The tram will travel from "Poselok Strelna" along several highways and streets, directly serving the new metro station. This change coincides with the opening of the Krasnoselsko-Kalininskaya metro line section. Bus routes 2A, 201, and 260 will also have their routes shortened to terminate at "Yugo-Zapadnaya," a move analysts suggest could stabilize service due to driver shortages. The new metro stations, "Putilovskaya" and "Yugo-Zapadnaya," officially opened on December 26.
