New sodium-ion flashlight works at extremely low temperatures

A new sodium-ion battery flashlight operates effectively at extremely low temperatures, overcoming limitations of traditional lithium-ion batteries. The "Sodiumfrostglow" flashlight maintains stable power down to -40°F (-40°C), unlike lithium-ion batteries which falter below freezing. It offers 3,000 charge cycles and a 2,500-lumen adjustable beam. Currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter, the flashlight is expected to retail around $85, with early bird pricing at $57. Shipping is anticipated in March 2026.
