New snail species discovered in Finland and the Netherlands receives official name

A new snail species discovered over a decade ago in Finland and the Netherlands has been officially named Pelgrimspeldhoren. Researchers have formally described the minuscule snail as Koloonella peregrina. Its discovery in the Netherlands is notable, though its ecological impact remains largely unknown. The snail, thin as a pin and found in brackish and freshwater, is thought to have arrived via dredging ships, possibly from Australia.
