New research challenges traditional belief about Jesus' birthplace
New research suggests that Jesus may not have been born in Bethlehem, as traditionally believed. Instead, some experts propose he was born in Nazareth or a nearby village called Bethlehem of Galilee, about 68 miles away from Bethlehem of Judea. Historians point out inconsistencies in the biblical accounts of Jesus' birth. The Gospel of Mark does not mention his birth, and the details in Matthew and Luke differ significantly. Additionally, the Roman census mentioned in Luke is considered unlikely to have occurred. Archaeological findings indicate that Nazareth was a larger, religiously conservative community during Jesus' time. This new evidence supports the idea that Jesus was likely born in Nazareth, challenging the long-held belief that he was born in Bethlehem to fulfill ancient prophecies.
