New method measures enzyme efficiency against thousands of substrates in a single experiment

phys.org

A new method can measure an enzyme's efficiency against over 200,000 substrates in one experiment. Developed at NUS, DOMEK uses mRNA display and sequencing to determine kinetic parameters for numerous peptide substrates simultaneously, simplifying a complex biochemical task. This technique aids in understanding enzyme recognition, engineering biocatalysts, and designing therapeutics, with potential applications for other enzyme classes.
