New Lupin the Third movie set for 2025 release after 30 years of 2D films

A new animated movie titled *Lupin the IIIrd The Movie* is set to be released in 2025. This marks the first 2D feature-length film in the *Lupin the Third* franchise in over 30 years. Directed by Takeshi Koike, the film continues a storyline he has developed over the past decade, involving a conspiracy linked to the franchise's origins. It is the second animated film since the death of creator Kazuhiko "Monkey Punch" Katō. The movie will feature the return of the villain Mamo, first seen in the 1978 film *Lupin III: The Mystery of Mamo*. The film's trailer hints at connections to previous installments directed by Koike.
