New law reduces unemployment benefits for amicable job separations in France

Lawmakers passed a bill reducing unemployment benefits for amicable job separations. This aims to save up to 800 million euros annually by 2029. The new law shortens maximum unemployment benefit duration for those under 55 from 18 to 15 months. Older workers will also see reductions, with case-by-case extensions possible. This legislation implements an agreement between employer and union groups, excluding CGT and CFE-CGC. It modifies labor law to enact these changes.
