New Jersey couple faces sex trafficking, forced labor charges
A New Jersey couple posing as pastors has been charged with sex trafficking and forced labor after allegedly running a forced labor operation for nearly a decade. Treva and Christine Edwards, ages 60 and 63, are accused of recruiting congregants and forcing them to perform labor from 2011 to 2020. Treva Edwards is also charged with physical and sexual assault of a victim. The arrests were made Friday, and the couple was arraigned Saturday. The investigation was conducted by the New Jersey U.S. Attorney’s Office Human Trafficking Task Force, formed this year.
