New Hampshire Supreme Court rules in favor of neo-Nazi group over racist banner display
New Hampshire's Supreme Court ruled in favor of the neo-Nazi group Nationalist Social Club-131, stating that a civil prosecution against them for displaying a racist banner was unconstitutional. The court found the state's interpretation of trespassing laws overly broad. Prosecutors had claimed the group trespassed when they hung a "Keep New England White" banner from an overpass in 2022 without a permit. The court's decision emphasized the importance of free speech, stating that broad restrictions could discourage public expression. The ruling does not end legal challenges for NSC-131. The Attorney General's office is pursuing another case against the group for alleged intimidation tactics during a drag queen event in 2023.
