New films this week: 'Fall 2: Deadpoint' opens Wednesday; three more Friday

Four new films open this week, led by the survival thriller "Fall 2: Deadpoint" on Wednesday, Sept. 2, followed by "American Summer," "Dreams in Nightmares," and "La Ultima Oportunidad" on Friday, Sept. 4. "Fall 2: Deadpoint" follows two climbers trapped above ground after a rock slide on Thailand's Mount Kwan. "American Summer" is a coming-of-age comedy starring Steve Guttenberg, while "Dreams in Nightmares" is a queer road-trip drama about friends searching for a missing companion. Additional releases include the documentary "American Doctor" about medics in Gaza, the thriller "By Any Means" set in 1960s Mississippi, and "The Salt Path" starring Gillian Anderson. "La Ultima Oportunidad" is a Spanish-language romantic comedy about a woman seeking love through peculiar dates.
