New detection method combats sophisticated quishing attacks using decorative QR codes

Visually stylized QR codes are enabling sophisticated "quishing" attacks that bypass traditional security measures. These decorative QR codes, incorporating colors, logos, and background images, disrupt automated inspection and user assumptions of safety, leading to malicious redirects. Researchers have developed a new detection method, ALFA, to identify suspicious QR code designs at the point of scanning, aiming to prevent users from accessing harmful destinations.
