New climate-focused school in Les Cabannes transforms staff and student life
A new school in Les Cabannes, designed with climate concerns in mind, has transformed daily life for its 15 staff members and students, ending lengthy bus commutes from surrounding villages. Director Elisa Vuidepot, who taught for 14 years in Aston, praised the new building's clarity, insulation, and functional spaces like a staff room and director's office. The consolidation of nursery, school, and leisure services has also improved inter-service communication, boosting morale and team cohesion among the four teachers. The project represents a significant upgrade from outdated facilities, providing an exceptional working environment against the Ariège backdrop. Prefect Hervé Brabant emphasized the initiative's ultimate goal: ensuring children's well-being, stating that being a child in Ariège is an opportunity, not a disadvantage.
