New children's complex in Les Cabannes unites Ariège youth services

ladepeche.fr (French) —

A new 1,400 m² children's complex has opened in Les Cabannes, France, on the site of the former SNCF train station, consolidating services for around 110 children from nursery to primary school. The €4.42 million project, funded 60% by public partners, was led by the Haute Ariège community of communes and the Pays de Beille education union. It ends years of scattered classes and daily travel for 90 students across multiple villages. The eco-friendly building features low-carbon concrete, mass timber, geothermal heating, and solar panels. Designed by local architects and built by 13 regional firms, officials highlight its role in promoting equal opportunity and supporting local craftsmanship.
