New 3D genome mapping tool uncovers hidden DNA complexity

medicalxpress.com

A new 3D genome mapping tool can detect hidden DNA changes missed by standard tests, potentially transforming genetic disorder diagnostics. The method, called genomic proximity mapping (GPM), captures spatial DNA interactions, revealing structural variants and copy-number changes with 100% accuracy for known variants. GPM uncovered 12 novel variants and found additional cryptic changes in complex cases, requiring less DNA than other advanced techniques.
