Netflix and Universal renew streaming deal to include live-action films starting in 2027
Netflix and Universal have renewed their streaming agreement, allowing Netflix U.S. customers to access Universal's live-action films starting in 2027. This includes films from Universal Pictures and Focus Features, available no later than eight months after their theatrical release. The deal also extends Netflix's rights to animated films from Illumination and DreamWorks Animation. After their initial release on Peacock, Universal films will be available exclusively on Netflix for 10 months before returning to Peacock. This partnership aims to enhance Netflix's film offerings, combining licensed titles with its original programming. Universal's animated films have been popular on Netflix, with several recent hits contributing to the platform's top rankings.
