Ukraine's military commissioner, Olha Reshetylowa, said nearly 16,000 foreign fighters from 72 countries support Ukraine against Russia's invasion, with almost 40% from Latin America. Ukraine's army totals around 880,000 soldiers, President Zelenskyy said. Former Defense Minister Mychajlo Fedorow announced a June reform to raise the foreign-fighter share in assault and infantry units to 50 percent, with average pay of about 5,800 euros. The war has lasted over four years. Kyiv created its International Legion at the invasion's start; foreign fighters also serve on Russia's side.
