NBC secures $3 billion Olympic broadcasting rights deal

NBC has signed a $3 billion deal with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to broadcast the Olympics in the U.S. through 2036. This includes the 2034 Winter Games in Salt Lake City and the 2036 Summer Games. The agreement elevates NBC to a strategic partner role, promising new initiatives and projects, including collaboration with the streaming platform Peacock. This marks a shift from NBC's previous role as just a media rights holder. NBC has been the U.S. Olympic broadcaster since 1988 for Summer Games and since 2002 for Winter Games. The new deal comes just before the election of a new IOC president on March 20.
