Natural gas leak contained at construction site in Halifax

A natural gas leak was contained at a construction site on Almon Street in Halifax's north end on Friday. Fire crews evacuated the area after receiving a call just before 1 p.m. local time. Robie Street and Almon Street were closed to isolate the scene. Fire crews are working with the gas company to ensure nearby buildings are safe. Halifax Regional Municipality issued an alert advising residents to close windows and avoid the area. The situation will be declared safe once fire crews leave.
