Nashik Smart City Corporation to manage all 70 traffic signals by 2027

timesofindia.indiatimes.com —

The Nashik Municipal Smart City Development Corporation Ltd (NMSCDCL) will take over monitoring and management of all 70 traffic signals in Nashik city, consolidating operations under a single agency ahead of the 2027 Simhastha Kumbh Mela. Currently, the Smart City Corporation manages 40 signals, while the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) oversees the remaining 30 older signals. The move follows a suggestion from police commissioner Sandeep Karnik to eliminate coordination issues and provide a single point of contact for signal-related problems. The Smart City Corporation is upgrading the 30 older signals before taking over, with work expected to be completed by March 2027. CEO Sumant More said the centralized command-and-control system will improve efficiency and ensure quicker resolution of traffic signal issues.
