NASCAR Cup winners all have last names starting with "B."
Ryan Blaney could be the next winner in NASCAR's Cup series, following a surprising pattern. So far this season, all five races have been won by drivers with last names starting with the letter "B." William Byron kicked things off by winning the Daytona 500. Christopher Bell has since won three races, and Josh Berry won last weekend in Las Vegas. Josh Berry finds the trend amusing. He noted that if your last name starts with a "B," you might be feeling good this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway. He predicted Ryan Blaney as a strong candidate to continue the "B" winning streak. Denny Hamlin, a seasoned driver, agrees and points out that Blaney has had two second-place finishes at Homestead in the past two years. Interestingly, eight of the 37 drivers racing Sunday have last names starting with "B." This group includes Kyle Busch and Chase Briscoe. Drivers with a "B" last name have won 45.5% of races since the start of the 2023 season. Chris Buescher joked that he might change his first name to Christopher for good luck, just like his fellow driver Bell. Meanwhile, four of the top five qualifiers for this race also have last names that begin with "B." Alex Bowman, who earned pole position, expressed that he hopes to keep the streak alive. Some drivers are taking the trend lightly. Carson Hocevar humorously added a silent "B" to his name on social media but didn’t change it on his uniform. Tyler Reddick believes that the success of "B" drivers will eventually even out. Chase Elliott laughed at suggestions of changing his name, stating he would rather focus on winning.
