thesun.ie

NASA and DARPA are developing a nuclear-powered rocket to reduce travel time to Mars. This technology could allow astronauts to make the journey in about two years, compared to current methods. The first tests are expected by 2027. Elon Musk's SpaceX is also working on its Starship rocket, designed for human transport to Mars. Starship aims to be fully reusable and is currently undergoing testing, with a seventh flight planned for early 2025. NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) is another key vehicle for future missions. The SLS will support crewed missions to the Moon and Mars, with its next launch scheduled for April 2026. The final version will have increased capacity for deep space missions.
