Naoto Sakai wins third term as Nakano Ward Mayor, advancing redevelopment plans

Naoto Sakai was re-elected as Nakano Ward Mayor for a third term, defeating four new candidates. Sakai, an independent incumbent, emphasized his eight years in office, focusing on child-rearing support and disability welfare. He also pledged to continue the redevelopment plan for Nakano Sun Plaza. The voter turnout was 35.05%, an increase from the previous election. The redevelopment of Nakano Sun Plaza, which closed in 2023, was a key issue during the campaign.
