Mysuru launches free mobile health service for pregnant women
Mysuru's health department has launched 'Kilkari,' a free mobile service for pregnant women. It sends weekly audio messages about pregnancy and childcare. Currently, 14,000 out of 37,000 targeted women are enrolled in the program. The initiative aims to lower infant and maternal mortality rates. Pregnant women can register through local health workers to receive messages from the fourth month of pregnancy until their baby is nine months old. Messages include health precautions, vaccination information, and family planning education. Women can call a toll-free number if they do not receive the audio messages.
