Musk-backed PAC spends $800,000 on GOP midterm races in Texas and Maine

Elon Musk's super PAC, America PAC, disclosed over $800,000 in August spending to support Republican Senate and House candidates in competitive races, with the largest amounts directed toward Texas and Maine. The spending targeted nearly all expected competitive Senate races, including Texas, Maine, Ohio, New Hampshire, Iowa, Michigan, and Alaska, plus House races in several states. The funds were categorized for printing, suggesting mail advertisements, and were approved by GOP operative Chris Young. America PAC spent over $239 million on Republicans in 2024, making Musk the largest donor that cycle. Despite previously saying he would reduce political spending, Musk authorized over $100 million for the November midterms, according to The New York Times.
