Mural honors Fernand, who left €107,000 to Emmaüs

estrepublicain.fr (French) —

A mural is being painted in tribute to Fernand Douet, a former member of the Emmaüs community in Montbéliard who died in January 2025, after he left a 107,000-euro bequest to the charity. Thierry Rosselot, the Emmaüs site manager, was surprised by the donation, as Douet had lived on only a few hundred euros per month. The community decided to honor him with the artwork, which was not originally planned. Douet, photographed in 2023 at age 82, was the community's oldest member. The mural serves as a lasting recognition of his generosity, with Rosselot noting that Fernand had saved his money specifically for them.
