Munich's former Hertie building sale stalls again

tz.de (German)

The sale of Munich's former Hertie department store has stalled again. A potential buyer, real estate entrepreneur Erich Schwaiger, has reportedly put the project on hold. Schwaiger, who recently acquired other prominent city center properties, allegedly canceled a scheduled notary appointment for the landmark building. The insolvency administrator for the sale declined to comment. The Hertie building, officially known as the Tietz-Haus, is valued at over 125 million euros and was part of the insolvent Benko empire. A separate adjacent Karstadt complex is also for sale.
