Mumbai auto and taxi fares rise from September 1, minimum up by Rs 1-2

Auto-rickshaw and taxi fares across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region will increase starting September 1, with minimum fares rising by Rs 1-2. The minimum auto-rickshaw fare rises to Rs 27 and taxi fare to Rs 33 for the first 1.5 km, with subsequent per-km rates also increased. A 10-km auto ride will cost Rs 182, up from Rs 171, while a taxi ride will cost Rs 219, up from Rs 207. Revised tariff cards will be valid for three months until meters are recalibrated by November 30. Night surcharges and AC taxi premiums remain, while driver unions welcomed the revision and commuter groups raised concerns about household costs.
