MSI launches new adapter cables for RTX 50-series graphics cards to enhance safety
MSI has introduced new adapter cables for its RTX 50-series graphics cards, addressing concerns about power cable issues seen in the RTX 4090. The new cables feature bright yellow plastic around the connector, indicating if the cable is not fully inserted. The RTX 50-series cards use a revised 12V-2x6 connector, designed to prevent power draw unless the cable is securely connected. This change aims to reduce the risk of overheating and melting connectors. The RTX 5070 does not include the yellow indicator, as its lower power consumption is deemed safe. The RTX 5070 Ti, RTX 5080, and RTX 5090, which draw significantly more power, benefit from this new safety feature.
