MS University in Gujarat faces leadership crisis and declining enrollment
MS University in Gujarat, once a pioneer in education, is now facing significant challenges. Dr. Vijay Kumar Srivastava, the vice-chancellor since February 2022, resigned after being deemed unqualified for the position. His legal battle continues regarding his future job eligibility. The university is experiencing a leadership crisis, with many key positions unfilled. There have been no new courses or programs launched in three years, and around 700 teaching positions remain vacant. This has led to a decline in student enrollment, dropping by 10,000 in two years. MS University's ranking has also fallen sharply. Once in the Top 100 of the National Institutional Ranking Framework, it now ranks between 151-200. The university's reputation has significantly declined, impacting its ability to attract new students.
