MP Sudhakar calls for expansion of insurance schemes to support more farming sectors in Karnataka

BJP MP Dr. K Sudhakar has called on the Indian government to expand the PM Fasal Bima Yojana and PM-Kisan Yojana to include sectors like sericulture, livestock farming, and aquaculture. He emphasized the importance of these sectors for Karnataka's economy. Currently, these insurance schemes only cover traditional crop farmers. Sudhakar noted that farmers in livestock and aquaculture face similar risks and challenges, which justifies the need for broader coverage. Karnataka is a significant player in livestock and sericulture, contributing notably to national production. Sudhakar believes that including these sectors in existing programs could enhance support for farmers and improve rural livelihoods.
